Sippa
Hi Anyone has a working 1.5.3.1 version with no bugs at all? Please share your knowledge if u meet the followings: You: - use default or any working theme (easy to fullfill) - use csv import for categories and products with images too - use default files or modified files and you can describe the modifications - use the basic modules that are available for 1.5.3 version - didnt update from a previous version or if u did u know what needed to be done to have a healthy version I gladly reinstall everything if someone can show a working version. monstercreativestudio
hell no. im starting to regret ever using prestashop or getting into e-commrance altogether. I started with 1.5.1. had issues upgrade to 1.5.3. fixed those issues but then made new issues. fixed almost everything but still dont have a working shipping module or method. Sippa
Benjamin: We are making a new store. Started with 1.4.8 and than deleted it and installed 1.5.3. Since we got multiple problems with csv imports (pictures not uploaded, ids not saved, categories messed up) we upgraded to 1.5.3.1. We still had problem with upload and found this fix: https://github.com/PrestaShop/PrestaShop/commit/8d7196daf3b39d280c631882f0e3ebe473233d07 Currently csv import works for categories and products aswell, but the uploaded images (of the products) are not seen on the site. The pictures are visible in BO and on the ftp too. The generated picture files are not stored the way they used to be in previous versions. (no subcategories crated for pictures, everything is under img/p) site: www.yvettebeauty.hu (currently no cache, force recompile) In case you check the site, check the following categories: Lila színes zselék Zöld színes zselék Narancs színes zselék Kék színes zselék Sárga színes zselék Piros színes zselék What i would like to achive is to see the images on the website for the products. guest*
No luck for me. No one Link is working. Seems that controller is ignored completely by some server-configurations. In German Forum also some users gave a try to PS 1.5.3.x with the same problems. BO works well, FO not with several problems on cart, links, white site after click on CMS, clicks redirecting to wrong site, or at least not reacting, pictures not found (non-legacy is ignored) pictures all available but they are ignored, mod-rewirte simply totally broken, etc... After three days trying to make the impossible possible I gave up. Finally I today moved my PS 1.4.5.1 to PS 1.5.2. which is working reliable and stable on all tests made this past 2 months. http://www.prestasho...orking-anymore/

guest*
Oh sorry, I must add something very important here. A fresh install of 1.5.3.1. is also working for me without problems, BUT no one upgrade of a PS 1.4.5.1/1.4.6.2/1.4.73 versions to PS 1.5.3.1. All upgrades failed by the same way. No links working. By adding it to the file I' am also unable to see where are the problems. Soft smarty-debug is not enough to see the real problems. error-logs on server also with no errors... Trip
@ CD2500, the debug mode can be enabled in definces.inc.php define('_PS_MODE_DEV_', true); I did a manual upgrade on a test installation a few minutes ago. So far I had to reset Reinsurrance Module and loyaltiy points due to mysql errors. I copied the product images and had to regenate all thumbnails. I will test the upgrade process on a live server asap and see if there are further errors. Regards, trip Btw @Benjamin and the mods. I appreciate your time spending here to help the community but it might be helpfull if you would pin a thread with helpfull informations like howto debug ps and measure performance bottlenecks with the values in defines.inc.php Maybe these informations are confusing for a newbie but it might help to find people serious bugs like missing database entries which at least can lead to serious performance degredation. I mean I have to expect not working modules after a manual upgrade but without the debug tool it is impossible to find such errors. A simple module reset can fix them but I assume that many people have these "unfinished" installations without even knowing that modules or whatever are not upgraded or worling properly.

YES all default works for me, but not any version if you activate third party modules working without problems with PS 1.5.2.. ALSO NOT WITH "backward compatibility module". Does not make sense to pay tousand of euros for extras, if they don't work. URL I sent you by PM. Also after deactivating and uninstalling all modules making problems the page is broken... No one link is working for me. It seems that PS 1.5.3.1 works only with the standard modules and settings. If you change something oder add a third party module working with PS 1.5.2. the system collapse. This is a real pity, making it unusable for upgraders. By the way all CHMOD ar set correct and .htaccess I've regenerated more than thousand times !! Perhaps PS 1.5.3. does not run on fast-cgi anymore ??? Sippa
cd2500: thx for support Upgrades dont seem to work from previous versions. Fresh 1.5.3.1 works almost (for me the csv upload still didnt). Github fix solved the csv upload problem. https://github.com/PrestaShop/PrestaShop/commit/8d7196daf3b39d280c631882f0e3ebe473233d07 Unfortunatelly database backup failed, so i lost the cms pages that i will have to rewrite. Would have been nice if all cms pages were stored as html / php pages. I made backup of all the files. Reloading them would have been soo easy. We use standard modules atm, so no expereince with custom/paid modules. Someone said that friendly urls dont work with starting numbers. We have a few products starting with numbers and they work fine. (or i just misunderstood the problem?) You can check the site if you have time. tannerS
Beyond the issues with the free shipping modules and friendly URL's, 1.5.3.1 is working fine for my small site. No show stoppers starting from scratch. I like Presatashop 1.5. The learning curve was not too awful. It took a me a week to figure things out while playing with a few free themes and I did hours of reading on here before I started. For a simple first 1.5 site I ended up using the Theme Maker, the templates install very smoothly and you can create something that is unique by using any color combo you want. But, my install was all manual product wise, I didn't import any items. The only thing I need to research now, is the friendly URL thing, mine are not friendly...Haven't looked into that issue yet. The nagging issues that I've run into were related to the free themes and a purchased egrove module I tried to use that did not work with 1.5.3.1 at all. Once I got rid of the bad modules things smoothed out. Theme Maker templates had no problems and worked perfectly. Seems that controller is ignored completely by some server-configurations. http://www.prestasho...orking-anymore/ Finally I found the solution. It is a Bug on PS 1.5.3.X You cannot use the module block categories and top horizontal menu together. When you clear your /cache/smarty/compile, so the shop stops to work. All links run in loop or clicks seemd to be ignored. By deactivating horizontal menu or block categories all the links work again. So for those having the same problem of dead links, please disable one of both modules.
ademEklabul
I have a working PS 1.5.3 site (not yet launched, still working on the product catalogue but here it is http://www.eklabul.biz/ ) , and I did indeed use the CSV import , then i manually imported a couple of the databases from my 1.4 version (order history, passwords etc) . It was a bit long but once you get used to it it goes fine. We're also using Multistore with 2 different themes on it , works flawlessly. Indeed blockcategories is bugged, but you can still use it flawlessly , by commenting out the smarty variables for it in blockcategories.tpl . its quite easy and gets rid of the bug that throws a 500 eror, also reduces load time drastically. then to improve my load time i did a few manips : (copypasted from another post i did) -uninstall the stats modules (they are buggy as hell and cause heavy load times) -comment on the caching of blockcategories so that smarty doesnt take it into account (same thing, smarty and the blockcategories just doesnt work , it throws that line 281 error or causes 500 errors) -Get rid of ETags via the htaccess, most of them are redundant. -set up cdn's for your static content (subdomains linking to your /img/ , /css/, /js/ and /themes/ directories , then tell prestashop to pull the pictures from the cdns instead of requesting them all in one block (http transfers are capped at 8 connections, basically the cdn will mutiply that) -tweake your htaccess with server-specific commands towards DEFLATE and expiry times -obviously the "regular" stuff like optimizing images, deleting all the 404 elements using tools like webpagetest, pingdom or other stuff. I used a theme that was super bugged at the start, but the theme creators managed to squash out most of them , and i did the rest. a bit of css here and there, a few tweaks in the php . I also managed to create a field in my admin panel in every product to display various comments in the FO . I quite like PS 1.5.3 compared to my old store. The only issue i have is with the autocomplete function in the search bar, but im learning jquery basics at the moment to try and solve it. I'm also having a problem with the font family. They idle the load time connection for no reason . If anyone has knowledge about that please share Hope it helps, feel free to ask me stuff about your issues . Ulisses Ramos
I don´t get why Prestashop is not relasing the development versions as 1.5.3.2, 1.5.3.3 This "stable" version is so buggy that they should be releasing new versions once every week, so people could install a more stable shop and not reporting bugs that are already fixed. This would save time to everyone. Prestashop would not spend time going thru bugs reports that are already fixed and users wouldn´t spend time trying to find solutions for problems already fixed. People would also receive notices of new version on the backoffice and could easily update the stores. Not everyone is capable of upgrading to a development version. http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/219917-please-increase-the-release-rate-of-versions-and-subversions/ Edited January 30, 2013 by Ulisses Ramos (see edit history)

You mean this bug ? /smarty/sysplugins/smarty_internal_templatebase.php on line 281 This is the one which I yesterday by accident detected. I tried to import a new theme, which deactivated the blockcategory. I activated it afterwards again after have cleared the smarty/compile and the working shop crashed, no one link was working. So I identified very quickly the problem must be on this module and on each click I had this error-message. Although debug-modus is also activated on PS 1.5.3. (as named here some postings before, because the lines aren't anymore available in config.settings.inc.php of PS 1.5.3) I had no error-messages on this. benjamin utterback
Hello, we are working hard on the GitHub developement version everyday. The majority of users do not want official new version like 1.5.3.2. Instead, you can see what we have been working on here, and make any changes you wish.https://github.com/P...ree/development That said, I would really like to know what major bugs in the solution are present, a link to a forge bug tracking thread would be helpful. Trip
Hi Anat, I can confirm the IE 6 rendering problems. The strange thing is, that the 1.5.1. and 1.4.9. (new theme) themes render correct so I guess we can call it an issue?! You can test this here http://netrenderer.com/index.php The demo PS 1.5.1. template here http://demo-store.prestashop.com/en/ renders correct The derrivation work from Dunglas http://prestashop-html5.dunglas.fr/ renders incorrect. I reverted my 1.5.3 yesterday and one reason was the messed theme in IE6. Not that many people use these browsers but if they render incorrect there and it was not the case in 1.5.1 who knows what else is wrong with the theme?
