Greek Geek Goddess
I'm at a loss here. For a while all of my apostrophes add a backslash before the apostrophe that shows up server side. In addition this is messing up all external URL's. An example: http://www.explorestoreonline.org/gift-memberships-basic/69-family-level-membership.html I type it correctly (sentences and URL's) and then once I click save it adds the \. It didn't used to do this. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!!!
Mallee Boy
Yep, I see it. You have a couple of options. 1. The most obvious option is that you just live without the apostrophe - most people will not even notice. 2. You can change the phrases. For example, instead of "Gift Recipients Name", you could just have, "Who is it Gift for?" (Easier for customer to follow and also good online practise as it comes across as you speaking to them as you would on a telephone). 3. Are you using Firefox? If so, check you site in another browser. Is it the same? Firefox sometimes does this where other browsers don't. 4. Re-type directly in html window of your page. Finally, is this a custom module problem? Does it occur any where else on the site or just in the gift details section? I am not sure why this section is on your product page. The slashes may be the result of a coding problem with that module. Let me know how you go trying any of these options.
Dh42
It is escaping the apostrophe because of the security risk.
Greek Geek Goddess
David thanks for the quick response!! It is a custom theme - HTC Black but there is not custom module as far as I know. It happens in every category and everywhere on the site. The only exception is for things that I created 6 months ago it's fine with. That is until I make an edit. Everytime I do any change on a product with an ' it adds at least one more \. Sometimes multiple like our summer camps. I have to manually delete them. I'm frustrated because it USED to work fine. I did try editing it in IE, Chrome and Firefox. Same issue and it shows up server side each time. Additionally I cannot get any URL link to work either that that's frustrating. I've even coded them manually using HTML and starting with a fresh product and it just doesn't work. Good idea on changing some of the phrases, however the head of Marketing requires that certain items have apostrophe's and changing the wording in some cases in impractical and then doesn't match other marketing items. Thanks again for your help so far. I'm still looking it over. If you have any additional suggestions let me know!
Dh42
Have you tried using the ascii code for an apostrophe?
Greek Geek Goddess
Yes, yields same result. Thanks for the suggestion Dh42. Any idea what's causing the URL's to not work?
Dh42
They are being escaped because apostrophe's are dangerous. I am guessing they are not being unescaped when they are output.
