Store frontpage does not open in 1.5.3.1

After upgrade from 1.4.9.0 to 1.5.3.1, I can access the backoffice but the storefront does not display. I also installed 1.5.3.1 on a fresh server with WS2003R2 en Plesk 9.5.5 with exactly the same result:

The page isn't redirecting properly.

 

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.

try to regenerate your htacces and check your siteurl.

Woutermesker has got right in this case. The best way to regenerate htaccess file is ... deleting it from your webhosting service from root directory of your prestashop. Remember to make a backup of this file.

Thanks Vekia, that is a good suggestion. If your server accepts URL Rewritting then you can toggle Friendly URL on and off, in the Preferences SEO-URL.. Always make sure to have a backup!

Thanks for the suggestion, but my shop is running on Plesk and does not allow for a .htaccess file to be created, despite it having an apache server built-in. Anyway, I checkedand fixed the permissions on the root folder and that solved the problem.
