"Add to Cart" - hide or remove button for a Pack component

Hi,

 

I am trying to configure a Pack with 6 + 1 Free like below, but I am blocked. Maybe is something I don't know:

 

Problem to solve: Block the possibility to be ordered only the Free Item from the Pack

 

Operations done:

 

1. list single Item

2. list again the item as Free [ zero sales price ], and set Visibility "Nowhere"

3. list the Pack as 6 x Item + 1x Free

 

Current situation: Free Item is not visible in search, but when 6 + 1 Pack is ordered, Pack content is displayed at bottom of the page.

 

Problem: Free Item can be ordered Individual.

Generalization: When having many types of "X + Y Frees" most efficient solution would be a "check-box" type in BO is a at Product level.

 

Question: can a condition at product level , similar to this would be viable ?

 

"for Products, Pack, Virtual Products, and all Combinations of them, if Final Sales Price is lower than 0.02, "hide Add to Cart .

 

Maybe is a dumb post, I'm not programmer, but as long as you understand, is OK.

 

If somebody makes a mod file, please post the code and PS locations so we all know.
