Autoupgrade gone mad?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I installed version 1.5.0 of PrestaShop using SimpleScripts through the cPanel provided by my hosting provider, but I am unable to upgrade to 1.5.2 using the same service. It says it has upgraded on SimpleScripts but when I check on the back panel it remains at 1.5.0. So I decided to use the 1-Click Upgrade tool, I am however getting the error that the root directory is not writable.

I contacted the hosting provider and for security reasons they are not able to offer 777 permissions but the root directory is set to 755 which should be sufficient for the upgrade, right?

So I have all the folder and files and what not set to 755, but it still says the root directory is still not writable, so it doesn't let me use the autoupgrade module :(.

What can I do about this? I would go ahead and try a manual upgrade but I fear that the problem with permissions would still be there when the installation process checks the settings are correct.

Any help would be appreciated.
