Cart very slow from time to time if logged in

Hello,

 

I am fixing this website ( http://www.fauve.ro ) after the one who developed it decided to drop the project for not managing to fix all the bugs.

 

The problem is the following:

 

After I added some new fields in the customer registration form and implicitly altering the customer table in the database, I realised that when I login as a user, the cart module has three different behaviours:

 

1. Working perfectly on adding, removing products from the cart

2. Working on adding, removing products but with a 40-70 sec delay with no error triggered.

3. Not working at all, not even launching the ajax-cart.js functions.

 

When the website is in state 2 or 3 as described above, when I click an add to cart button an then click a menu link or something like this, I get this js error:

 

"TECHNICAL ERROR: unable to add the product.

 

 

Details:

Error thrown: [object XMLHttpRequest]

Text status: error"

 

I have to mention that there are 3 more subdomains with the same script version and mostly the same website: skoda.fauve.ro, audi.fauve.ro and seat.fauve.ro that appear to have the exact same issues, but with the delay times much lower ( 10-20 sec ) and without having the "not working" issue.

 

The installed version is 1.4.6.2 and as far as I know, the theme does not support a 1.5.+.+ version.

 

Please give me some advice. I checked on many other topics tried lots of solutions but none seemed to work.

 

I am not a PrestaShop expert since I have only been working on this platform for a couple of months but I can say that I know and understand the script extremely well. So please give me all the advice you have.
