my-name
I am trying to set up a B2B shop so that sales to other VAT registered european companies are not charged tax but anyone else within the EU is charged tax. The VAT module is installed and works. I am using 1.5.2 I find though that I have to set up a tax rule for every single European country including territories like French Guyana manually rather than being able to select them from just European Zone or just selecting the European zone. I have searched the forum and internet for a solution and don't find one except it clearly shows that in 1.4 the setting up of tax rules allowed you to just select the zone and then only the European countries would be shown and you could check all the countries you wanted to apply this to. It was very straight forward but in 1.5 this would take a long time to do. Seems like a downgrade has occurred? Also there is the option to select all the countries in the world in Tax Rules. I accidentally did this and found out the hard way that the BO then only shows about 50 of them at a time so you can't just delete them all again, you have to delete them page by page. orotoi
WoW Prestashop Team! ARE YOU HEEREEEE??!?!?!? Close the forums if you dont want to help and leave it only as reference for the already "solved"(???) topics.
stottycabanas
The forums are not the means by which Prestashop provides support to users. If you want direct support from them you will need to pay for a support agreement. The forums are a community resource where PS users can learn from and help each other. Willingness to help may be influenced by the way in which requests are posted. Cheers, Dave
orotoi
Dave, Every serious company with respect to its users, have some personnel in their forums to assist. And I understand that you may not follow AALL the threads, but there are a lot of topics where a prestashop staff comes in.. says something irelevant or asks a generic troubleshooting question and after that never appears again. Unfortunately I ve found the "hard-way" that this "free" platform is not so free...
stottycabanas
Orotoi, I'm sure Prestashop is a serious company, but they happen to use a business model that is unfamiliar to you. Expecting all aspects of using Prestashop to be free is a bit naive. There is some representation from them on the forums, but the purpose of this is not to provide support for every issue raised, but more to keep in touch with the community and its concerns. In general, the community is pretty good at helping to solve problems, but there may come a time where if an issue is critical to you, you may have to pay for some professional assistance, either via Prestashop or someone else. Thanks, Dave
orotoi
Dave.. I am familiar with that model and dont expect all aspects to be free.. but at least some basic/routine tasks needed on a eshop should be done without the need of an external module. And no I m not sayin presta doesnt have those functions, but in reality the way they re working or have been implemented in are forcing one to search for other ways (external mod, messing with core etc.) Now on the topic of what I said.. I said in the prev post, I say it again.. I dont expect from presta guys to be 24/7 on the forum or to answer every single topic here. I am aware of the concept of the forums and that are mostly community-driven (even for commercial products not just free/open etc) BUT... when one comes to a topic and asks generic troubleshooting questions or other info on the issue and those infos are given to her (either from 1st post of TS either upon her request), I expect from that person some answers, and that as I ve said, is not the case in a lot of topics.
