Sorry for the topic title!

This forum is self moderate = true
I saw too many topics/posts in prestashop's forum has no respons or answers from other community member. I think it's time for Prestashop to maintain their forum from being neglected. This forum needs a full attention from the holy Prestashop team, have a look at phpbb forum, they have support moderators online. I didn't mean to force PS forum to become one of those well maintained forums out there because Prestashop is the best opensource e-commerce, let's just not waste it!

This kind of topic is very nice for all those who spend a lot of time reading posts and helping people over their free time.

Zendik, once again I'm very sorry for the title..
But you can't handle many other subforums by your self, an overwhelmed task. I would love to help if I am capable.
In 2008 prestashop forum is gratifying, my wish is this forum could get better because people love Prestashop, alot of new users, this forum is BIG, we ask questions then we get answer, it's okay with 2 or 3 days delay as long as our problem's solved.

Lots of questions are unanswered because this issue have been discussed a thousand times before and a simple little search will be a great help.

Also many people ask very basic questions, this is a Prestashop forum, not html / php 101....

Ijust looked at your "well maintained" forum and the first post I came across was this

"I am a registered user of this forum. There is currently no administrator or moderator, and I have been invited to take on that role. Two days ago I stopped receiving email notifications when threads I was subscribed to were updated. I checked my board settings and they were correct. I then changed my email address, but never received the confirmation/activation email at the new address. After that I tried signing up with an entirely new email address and account name, but again, I never received the confirmation/activation email. I tried with two more email addresses and had the same problem.

Furthermore, other users report they are receiving 30-70 SPAM emails a day from the forum site. I'm not sure whether this means it has been hacked or not. Clearly there is something wrong but I don't have enough experience with phpBB to know what it is"

Are you sure it is as good as you say, and should this forum aspire to this?

I don't know how you would get spam from this forum (I don't) since your email address is not listed anywhere.

Furthermore, I don't understand people who complain about not getting service for a free product.
The coding of Prestashop has taken many people a long time, and they still offer it for free.
You are expecting them, as well as other users to offer more of their time for free to help you, and then complain if you don't get answers in an hour or less?!?

You are expecting them, as well as other users to offer more of their time for free to help you, and then complain if you don't get answers in an hour or less?!?


Recently, somebody grumbled because he had no answer within 9 minutes. :)

It has literally become an household inventory here... :)

For those who say, "use the search feature to find your answer" I must ask, have you done the same? 95% of the time the search results are useless. Either because they are in a different language, it was too specific, or it wasn't specific enough.

Hell, you can't even find the UPS Module by searching here on Prestashop. You have to go to Google, type in UPS Module Prestashop. So instead of just saying, "search the forum because I have seen the answer." Either keep your mouth shut and move on or provide a link to the post. Not too hard to ask is it?

As for the support, I agree with tomerg, this is a free product and you get what you pay for!!

95% of the time the search results are useless. Either because they are in a different language, it was too specific, or it wasn't specific enough.

Wrong, 95% of the time I find... of course, this is not always on the first line blinking in red color... Sometimes I have to open several result links or even going on the 2nd or 3rd page...

So instead of just saying, "search the forum because I have seen the answer." Either keep your mouth shut and move on or provide a link to the post.

No. There is no reason that we would find better or faster than the person. So, why would we do the job in his place ?
I think that if nobody would make the effort to search before posting, the number of posts would be 10 times bigger, and with always the same questions...
Obviously, some people don't even make this effort before posting so this is important to increase their awareness about this useful tool.

Not too hard to ask is it?

Not too hard to type 2 word in a text field either !

Okay, you are misunderstood and sick of people

ZENDIK is great guy, he's allways ON.

He's great and friendly.. but he needs partner, it is up to Prestashop I'm only giving my opinion (badly?)

@Zendik : If I may ask, why is your avatar different than any other team member? When I read a topic and find your answer's posts I never notice that you are the online moderator. My apology for this negative atmosphere.

I do agree that the search is up for modification so it would only search in that part of the forum that you choose.

At the moment it searches the whole forum, I'm not interested in any French, German, Italian topics (nofi) so why would I what these in my search results?

Also, moderating would help as they could move posts to that part of the forum where they belong as now you find topics related to templates in the Installation part of the forum etc.
