jaredsasser
I would like to set up prestashop so customers browse products using http://sasserhealth.com and then when they proceed to checkout have them checkout using https://sasserhealth.com. How do I do that? I am planning on using the Softaculous install method on west host. It asks if I want to install on http: or https:, but that will make it one or the other, and I need to use both as I indicated (http when they land on domain sasserhealth.com, and https when they proceed to checkout). Is this something I do in the prestashop back office or somewhere else? Thanks, Jared Edited December 13, 2012 by jaredsasser (see edit history)
benjamin utterback
Hello jaredsasser, I'm not sure how softaculous does this. Usually once PrestaShop is installed, you can install a SSL certificate. Once you install the certificate you need to enable it in the PrestaShop Back Office. By enabling your installed SSL through the back office of your store, your checkout process will proceed in https.
jaredsasser
Thanks Benjamin. Installing the SSL certificate is done with the hosting provider, right? I assume it's placed on the primary domain?
benjamin utterback
Yes, it is done through the hosting provider, however, you can purchase SSL certificates from different places. GoDaddy has an SSL certificate for about 15 dollars I believe.

benjamin utterback
Hi No problem, I'm glad I could help. In 1.5, after you have installed the SSL Certificate, you can go to Preferences>>General>> Enable SSL (yes) and save.
dsimms
do it this way... purchase online SSL > Rapid SSL is fairly cheap as they can get quite expensive... using htacess, point your site that it will load only as www.domain.com purchase your SSL cert for www, because you then can use it for www, and non-www. but if you purchase a non-www, it will not work on www.domain.com then contact your host to complete setup.... that is the way I would do it... ps. use htaccess to setup either www, or non-www,, use one or the other, but not both, other wise google will see both as duplicate content, at least that is what I have been told..so I would set it up for www.domain.com so if someone goes to domain.com, then it would just auto point over to www.domain.com Edited December 16, 2012 by dsimms (see edit history)
erginaktasw
Hi, I have prestashop 1.4.9.0 website working properly. Now i bought and installed SSL to my apache server. However, I cannot enable SSL at BO. When I click "Please click here to use HTTPS protocole before enabling SSL" system turns http to https and gives error 107 (net::ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR) Do i have to do another settings after SSL installed to server and before enabling it at BO. Please Help
BJC
Hi, I'm wondering if this has been resolved and if so how. I'm having a similar problem. I also cannot access any of the pages that should now use HTTPS, for which I get a 404 error. Thanks.
