Add a custom block to product page

In addition to the image viewer on the product detail page, I would like to add a custom jquery 360 viewer to each product page (http://codecanyon.net/item/expo360-360-product-viewer/full_screen_preview/2531771). Ideally I would like for it to be positioned above the normal content, where a Hero area on a homepage is. Is there anyway to accomplish this with add-ons?

 

In other words, I'd like to add another content box on the product creation page in the backoffice, where I can drop this code in.

You can manually add the code to product.tpl or create your own module with that code and set the right hook for it

Thanks is there any good tutorials for doing this. I'm new to smarty and prestashop, so it sin't necessarily clear on how to achieve this.
