Steffen
Hello to all Over the last three years I've made many changes to my shop. I've tried to upgrade my test shop to 1.5 but everything is messed up, even with the standard theme, due to my many changes. My question is: Is it possible to make a completely new install, and still keep the database, customers, items, images etc.? Thank you
Alex Simonchik BelVG
Hi, did you try use the "One click update" module? But if you have a lot of customizations, I think that you need make the custom import tool. Regards
Steffen
Yes, I upgraded from 1.4.4 to 1.4.9 to 1.5.1 using the one click module. Everything went perfect, but my files have been changed so much, that nothing looks right and I haven't got the patience to correct it all. I just want to start fresh.. Muad'Dib
Hello Nondo, Unless you are very techy and know the code of PS on your fingers, I strongly discourage you from even trying doing this. It is probably doable but would require you to apply all the changes which happened on the database since your version and above (which you can find in install/upgrade/sql/) and to be honest that would take you a lot longer than simply getting rid of everything which is not native before upgrading. I upgraded from 1.2.5 which was way off straight to 1.5.2 without any noticeable problems, but before making a successful attempt I made a few different try and fail, including intermediate version, to see in the end it was not changing anything. Anyway whatever you decide make sure to make a FULL backup of everything before trying. And if you want to keep your catalog you will also need most of your /img/ folder as being described in the manual. Hope this helps. Cheers!
benjamin utterback
Hello, I do agree with Muad'Dib. Please make a working backup of your database and files. Copy these into a new subdomain for a test/dummy site. You can attempt to upgrade using the duplicate dummy site to troubleshoot the errors. Site
I usualy make note of any changes applied to older versions, then re-apply them once the shop has been upgraded to a newer version. That way the shop has the latest code, and sometimes you only need to alter certain bits to acheive the same results.
Steffen
Hello, I do agree with Muad'Dib. Please make a working backup of your database and files. Copy these into a new subdomain for a test/dummy site. You can attempt to upgrade using the duplicate dummy site to troubleshoot the errors. I have already done all of this with a working test shop... There were no problems backing up or upgrading to the latest version. Problem is purely that all the files (core-files?) I have changed. They do not work well with the standard theme in v.1.5 I've been thinking a lot about how to make a fresh start using my old database. Is this scenario possible? 1. I backup my shop and database. 2. I upgrade shop to the latest version - this will upgrade the database as well to latest version, I believe. 3. I delete all files using FTP. 4. I download the latest version and upload it using FTP (and delete the "install" file). 5. Working latest version with standard theme and my old database. popres
Can someone please tell me, how I do a clean install of prestashop 1.5.3 and import my existing database into it? Did you find a solution ? I want to do this also, my old site is PS 1.2.
Steffen
No solution yet... I have downgraded to 1.4.9 again. I tried doing a clean install of 1.4.9 and then import my database (1.4.9) into the fresh install, but that doesn't work either.. It's the weirdest thing ever! Why would a database and Prestashop of the same version not go together??
