BWT
I installed version 1.5 fresh install, i thought it said it was stable for production, I then wanted to upgrade using the 1-click upgrade and did so, everything went well however after all was said and done I deleted the default categories and added one of mine the first went well and was created. During the creation of the second category 3rd,4th,5th and so on none of the new ones I created are displaying.I did see them when i opened the 1st one I created listed under the tree but not in the main category area. Any help with this would be great. It has also been listed in the "Bug Tracker" however it says "fixed" but doesn't display any correction or "how-to". Thanks p.s.Should I not use the version 1.5 series yet for production mode?? I guess not!
scottm
Hello tjg, When you are creating a new category, are you setting the Root Category field to the green check so that each new category is a root? Best Regards, Scott M
BWT
Yes I have done that and check it and check it again and again! Also tried to make sub-category but na-da! Wonder whats going on with it, can't figure out if it's something from the upgrade (i used the 1-click upgrade) to 1.5.2. or a version issue? see screen shots Edited December 7, 2012 by tjg (see edit history)
benjamin utterback
Hello tjg, did you do a fresh install of version 1.5.2? I suggest to try that and let me know if the problem persists. Thanks!
ajensen27
I did the 1 click upgrade from 1.5.0.7 to 1.5.2 and everything worked fine for me. So don't think it's the 1 click upgrade causing the issue.
scottm
Hello tjg, One thing I noticed from your screenshot is that there is no default item selected in the Parent list whereas in my copy Home is selected by default. I am not ever able to set it to where no category is selected. Home is id_category 2 in the ps_category table and is the id_parent for all user-added root categories. I'm willing to bet that if you checked out the ps_category table, you will see the malfunctioning categories have a 0 or Null. I altered my table and gave some categories a 0 id_parent and they disappeared from the back office and front end. Changing the id_parent for those categories back to 2 (for Home) made them reappear in my site. I know this is not a fix, but it does help explain the issue a bit. Setting the radio button for Home may correct the issue, though it should be there by default. Let us know if a fresh install fixes the issue. benjamin utterback
Hello, I still recommend testing that out, get a test subdomain and install 1.5.2 directly. Let me know if the problem persists.
BWT
it was a fresh install in it's own folder. what I did was delete the default categories then try and make my own, I was able to create one parent category as seen in screen shot "artwork" after that I tried to make several more parent categories and they don't display at all. The only place I can see the "parent" level categories I just made is during the creation of them you can see the tree with all listed as should be. see second screen shot. It's strange? Hasini
I am having the same problem. When I add a new Category, it doesn't appear in the Category list in the Admin Panel. Though I noticed it appeared in the Monitoring section as an empty category. Then I added products and it disappeared from there too. When I add a new product, I can add it to the new Category I've created although the category does not appear in "Categories". Weird, strange, annoying. Did you try reinstalling the shop tjg??? I don't want to go through the reinstallation if it doesn't help.
Heckrollo
Hi Hasini, I have the exact same problem on my 1.5.3.1 version. Did you manage to find a fix for your problem? Thanks
tibipb
Hi, I have the exact same problem on my 1.5.3.1 version...when I tried to create category of level 4. So I made some experiments and this one helped. Before saving new category, clicking on expand button is needed. Or choose another parent category...After saving without expanding or choosing, parent directory is set to 0. Than there are two options - right after saving its possible to edit created category and choose parent directory. Or it can be done later, but only in database. Hi Hasini, I have the exact same problem on my 1.5.3.1 version. Did you manage to find a fix for your problem? Thanks Hello, could you all please attach your /classes/controller/admincontroller.php? A solution may be found in this Forge Report, http://forge.prestashop.com/browse/PSCFV-9147 A category can not be it's own parent correct? If that is the issue you are having, take a look at that forge report and the Github fix here, https://github.com/PrestaShop/PrestaShop/commit/e27ef3e7f287027c3a2ea374aa52ba26fc96dc2e
