jfresh21
Hello, I'm interested in hearing from someone who is dropshipping using PS. The only 2 modules I've seen are: http://webshopmodules.com/en/shipping-logistics/1-order-emails.html - $78 http://www.modulebazaar.com/en/shipping-logistics/147-dropshipper-module-for-prestashop.html -$250 Have you used them and do they work? Are their other setups? I'd like to hear experience/advice from anyone drop shipping using PrestaShop. Thanks!
SuperCharlie
About 75%-85% of our biz is dropshipping. We dont use any external modules, we enter the products, do some markup, do a general shipping charge where we win some and lose some, and process the orders by purchasing each order from the Mfg and putting in the client address for drop shipping. We also have a big note on checkout that orders with more than one product might come in separate shipments..since they may select products from 2 different drop ship vendors. Its a little messy but it works for us. Good Luck! SC
mphillips
Drop shipping in Prestashop...You would think that there would be more on this subject...considering so many people use it. basically, I am using mutiple suppliers and the module from ModuleBazaar. So far, the module allows me to setup a whole list of shipping rates for each supplier, plus differant shipping carriers. The support for the module comes from Egrove, and is mediocre at best. They do maintain the module if there is a problem. But there is little communication and no help files to speak of. This is my first jump out of the gate with Prestashop and have come to a realization...FYI ...it is best if there is only 1 supplier. I have run into the problem of different shipping rates for differant suppliers and if a client orders mutiple products from multiple suppliers in one order. The shipping rates get really wierd. I have entertained the idea of a multishop. 1 shop per supplier, but have not found any comfirmation that this would work. So there is my 2 cents worth. SuperCharlie
@mphillips.. yea.. its the shipping that is the killer. What we did was set up a base amount of $7 and added .50 per item on the item setup as a general rule. For specific items which cost us more to ship we add more, and we also set up some different countries with a different base amount. On top of that, we mark up the products enough so that if someone orders from multiple vendors we dont end up upside down and still make profit. The killer is always when they order multiple items from multiple vendors.. so you get that first item hit multiple times. For us, once it all washes, we make a little off the cumulative shipping costs... not much.. but a little.. even with the multiple vendors here and there.. but a lot of it depends on your biz and how your customers buy things so doing it this way is very dependant on a case by case basis.. mphillips
@supercharlie...was hoping you were still on line. Have you played with or considered a multistore setup? I actually think this might solve the problem...IF...each individual store can be setup for just one supplier with its own shipping rates. I already know that customers can be registered across all stores, but each store has a seperate cart. Which illiminate the problem of multiple suppliers in one order. I would want each store to be accessable from the front main menu, though, and have found nothing on this particulair part of it. What do you think? SuperCharlie
Im afraid I havent been through the paces with 1.5 I am pretty happy with 1.4.8.2 and have a lot of dev and custom work put into my version. I would think you could do multi-stores per vendor, but it would seem like it would be very disjointed.. that for every vendor you would have a different checkout.. but I might be wrong. Sorry I cant be of more help on that one..
foodstr2
@bhaskar, et al, when you say the module "covers all the dropshipper requirements", do you mean from different dropshipping locations? In my business (http://www.internet-grocer.com) I have products that I inventory, and dropship others from 3 different locations. So, I need a solution that will figure UPS shipping from 4 different places and put the total in one order. Will PrestaCart/module do this? Thanks for your help! jennywill
Per my experience, do not use module bazaar egrove systems. Their prestashop dropship module is terrible. We didn't even get to use it on production (only test) and we wasted our money because they refused to issue any type of refund. There were errors on the install to our test environment, which we had to provide our ftp and back office info for them to install it. Then there were errors on the setup and configuration, and every time we asked for help their level of support was "read the manual" which was in terrible english and full of errors. We read the manual several times and then their level of support was to use flat rate shipping which prestashop already does out of the box! They also lied to us on the functionality of the module before we bought it. We also hoped maybe we could pay more in order for them to get the stupid thing working right since we already had $250+/- invested, but they stopped responding to our requests. We ended up having to have a custom module written just for our situation. I understand the fine line for refunding modules like these since they can be copied and reused sometimes, but this module apparently needs a license to run, so they simply needed to revoke our licenses to prevent us from using it to issue a refund. EGrove Systems Module Bazaar is terrible. Buyer Beware!

mowax
@jennywill: I bought the dropshipper module from egrove systems, and the first version didn't work. But they recently sent me an updated version which works well. You should get in touch and ask for the latest update.

Charlie - forgive my n00bness, but how did you do that? It'd be way easier for me as well.
