changing the way sub categories are displayed

I would like to change the way the sub categories are displayed

 

So in stead of in a list (as default), I would like them in a grid (3 or 4 for next to one another) similar to the way featured products are displayed.

 

Does any one have a suggestion?

maybe you can try to add to category.css in .inline_list li -> display: inline-block; and maybe you can set the width as you like
