Customizations to wish list module

I like the simple wish list module that comes with Prest 1.5, but it just doesn't seem to work very well. If you are not logged in, it's not easy to see the message saying you must log in to create a wish list. It should be a pop up. I can get a fancybox pop up working, but how to set it up so it behaves differently whether you are logged in or not is not something I've figured out.

 

Anyone have any ideas?
