StanLabs
When I search for my site on google, there's a very long and insignificant description below the link of the site I work on. I'd like to change that description using prestashop. Could someone help me out?
clayton29657
Hello StanLabs Exactly which page are you referring to the home page? What version of prestashop are you using?
vekia
you must set up the SEO preferences in SEO section in your back office. This is the simplest way to change description in google. Remember - It takes some time.
StanLabs
Yes, it's the homepage, and the version 1.4.9.0 Also vekia, do you mean like going into Preferences -> SEO & URLs -> index.php -> meta description? StanLabs
How much time it takes before it actually appears on google? I changed it and it doesn't do much... Also, how can I access the raw php code?

In most cases it will take about 7 days for the new description to appear in the SERPs. What php code are you wanting to access? StanLabs
I'd like to access all of it, but mostly the homepage
benjamin utterback
Hello, I just want to put my two cents in about the Google Re-Crawl. I monitored a change of description and it took nearly two weeks. Also, I pulled an image off of the server and Google images did not take the picture off until over three weeks later. This was the middle of this year.
Carolina Custom Designs
You are right Benjamin. I tell all our clients a minimum of 2 weeks but usually we see results in 7 to 10 days. Of course, this depends largely on the site. Our company site, for example, gets crawled much faster than many of our clients. 2 weeks is a pretty safe estimate and it keeps the clients from emailing us every 2 days wondering why their changes haven't shown up in the SERPs Marty Shue
benjamin utterback
Yes, that would be a hassle wouldn't it. I also think that that the images are recrawled less often, as I was monitoring a picture taken off of a server and it took nearly a month.
