Created Product Set and now need to move into a fresh template

Hi, we're new to prestashop and we are looking for a steer in the right direction.

 

We have created a shop using a template, as we thought that would be the best start point but are not happy with the ways it looks and finding it vey difficult to reconfigure.

 

So we are going to start again from the beginning and develop on the basic template.

 

However having created all the products, imported images and made all the various attributes we don't want to do that again!

 

Copying the database from the old to the new doesn't seem to work as images haven't come over nor attributes or product descriptions.

 

Obviously we know there must be a way of doing this but can't find where to look!

 

Can anyone point us in the right direction or tell us what we are doing wrong!
