feature request + credit card gateway module

Recommended Posts

Hey, I found ps last week or so, and I must say it is looking VERY nice! I appreciate the nice software to date, though a few questions.

I realize that this software looks to be mainly based in europe, but as I'm in the U.S. and making a module to use Authorize.net with Prestashop I couldn't help but notice there is no 'state' field in our address, I was curious if this is something I should add myself and update with each release or if you guys would consider working it in as a configuration option.

also, I was thinking about writing the payment module for other gateways, what do you guys use most?

another thing that I will need to make myself if its not already in production is the live shipping rates through UPS, Fedex, etc. I think I've seen people discuss it a little on here but i wasn't sure if anyone had built it yet. I know they have API's that I can tap in to, and i haven't bothered to research them too much, but if no one is going to touch it, I need to make something myself before I can go live with prestashop.

any input is appreciated, thanks again for the great software!

Hi ebeckstrom,

Thanks for the kind words and for your interest in helping out  :)

there is no 'state' field in our address

The States tab @ Back Office >> Shipping >> States is now functional in v1.0 RC3.

As for Authorize.net, USPS, UPS, Fedex, etc., live shipping rate modules are indeed in high demand for American shop owners.  We have not received any builds even though, as you point out, such development has been discussed here on the Forum.

Now that RC3 is out the door, we are re-assessing our priorities and we consider these functions to be very important.

What would you need from the PrestaShop development team to help you (and hopefully other Community members) develop such modules?

I would say that the Authorize.net (and other popular payment modules that we US based companies use) is more important than the realtime shipping rates.  From what I can tell in the demo, a store owner can set up as many "carriers" which I suppose could be USPS First Class, USPS Priority, etc.  Then use the weight ranges to specify the shipping cost for each carrier.  Am I correct in my understanding of carriers zones and fees?

For my store, we use a flat rate for all US Orders and then we use the International First Class table rates (5 zones for the world) for international orders It takes a few minutes to set up the table, and is a bit of a hassle when the rates change, but really not a big deal..

I started another thread, but my feature request is to make it easier to create zones, perhaps a multi-select box with add/remove buttons to quickly select a list of countries to put into a zone.

Hehe, I am currently developing an offline CC module! The code was actually open at the moment I began reading your latest post! I expect to have it out shortly for an Alpha test... Authorize.net will probably be the next step.

MODIFICATION:

I have just released the RC3 of the Offline Credit Card Module!
