wonderland-wigs
Hi, We had a new site built www.wonderlandwigs.com in prestashop in September and as soon as it was lunched we have had massive problems. After further investigation we noticed every now and then it was using 100% of the cpu and 100% of the Ram. We then agreed after looking in the forums we needed to have the site upgraded to 1.4.9.0 Because the older version was known to have bugs that could make this problem happen. This did not fix it so we changed over to a dedicated server with lots more power. Double the ram 4gb its running max about 3.5gb and still 94% cpu User Domain % CPU Process wonderla wonderlandwigs.com 94.3 /usr/bin/php /home/wonderla/public_html/category.php wonderla wonderlandwigs.com 93.8 /usr/bin/php /home/wonderla/public_html/category.php wonderla wonderlandwigs.com 92.5 /usr/bin/php /home/wonderla/public_html/category.php Prestashop version 1.4.9 with custom template (attached) with SSL Server snapshop(WHM): http://awesomescreenshot.com/03fm49a28 PHP info; http://awesomescreenshot.com/03fm49a28 Server info: MySQL version : 5.1.65-cll Architecture: x86_64 Perl version: 5.10.1 Apache version: 2.2.23 Please can you take a look??? wonderland-wigs
I have just emailed our developer to ask how big the product file is. Please can somebody take a look as our site is so close to crashing Thanks Sam x
Dh42
How long has your shop been running? How many customers do you have? Do you know how many products in total you have? How many carts do you have? Do you have cache on and force compile off? Edit: I can take a look at it, but I would need admin access. Also you should be using rich snippets since you have things like ratings and reviews on the page. But with 350 products you shouldn't be taking up that much resources Edited November 16, 2012 by DesignHaus42 (see edit history)

Dh42
On another note, your db overhead is too high for some reason, try truncating your db, 75mb is too much for what you have. I have one client with 30k customers and 45k addresses, and their db is only 35mb. I have another with over 100 products, with each product having 20 images linked to each product and around 1k combos per product, their db is only like 25mb, they don't have as many customers as the other site. imokweb
Hy! I'm having the same problem, Cpu usage around 96%, and Entry processes 22. The weird thing is, that we went online 3 days ago, and we got only like 60 products... the url: http://winteroutlet.ro/ - Prestashop 1.5.2 - force compile off - cache off - because other reasons I reffered to here. benjamin utterback
Hello imokweb, if you only have 60 products. That is strange. It is a fresh install?
imokweb
No, it was an 1.5.1 and then i updated it to 1.5.2 with the help of the automatic update module. I just noticed that there is a 'www' folder, containing three times more files than in the public_html. Is this normal? When we went live, I accidentally typed in "www." before the domain name in the ps settings. Ps warned me, I changed it. Could this miss-type have done this? imokweb
Sorry, actually there are almost 300 products... (client uploaded them). The site is working slowly, and now the featured products on the home page aren't showing correctly for some reason... Any idea? Thanks!
wonderland-wigs
www.wonderlandwigs.com The site started on a shared server and every now and then it would use 100% of the CPU and 100% of 1 GB of Ram. This made our services go down every now and then. Next step was to update to later version of CMS 1.4.9.0 BUT HAD NO CHANGE Then moved over to a dedicated server with 4 GB of ram, it’s now running about 20% ram and every now and then the cpu shoots up to 98% but most of the time it sits around 0.28 (2 cpus) We setup the old server as a media server to speed up page loading times. The site was built with a custom template. Everything points to the /usr/bin/php /home/wonderla/public_html/category.php file. I have spoken to the server company at the time it was doing this and they said ( 77440 | wonderla_wigs | localhost | wonderla_wonderwigs | Sleep | 2119 | The above database is creating sleep connections. This file seems to be fine all day and when our site gets busy or its being crawled by bots this file will lock on around 98% CPU and then the site starts to run really slow. If this happens when people are paying, Sagepay is unable to receive confirmation information; it makes five attempts and receives no response then rejects the payment. Any advise appreciated

gennybeans
Hey guys, Sorry to hijack this thread. I seem to be having the same issue with a slow website, except when I disable blockcategories module, the site runs as normal and isn't slow anymore. I have obviously narrowed it down to the module and I have tried some fixes that have been suggested in other threads, but to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks! wonderland-wigs
Dh42 Found the problem, by disabling the block categories / dynamic left hand navigation and making one in html. Bill Dalton
This thread is so funny. With all due respect to wonderland-wigs. I've never seen so much help given to any previous poster. And all the other people that tried in vain too find help in this thread ... just completely ignored. True, they should start another thread perhaps ... Lesson learned. Find an attractive Avatar. Then ask your question. Edited March 20, 2013 by Bill Dalton (see edit history) 3
