How to install a new theme ?

Hi!

 

I've just installed prestashop and added a theme that I've bought from addons.prestashop.com.

I'm not sure how to do this, because even if I select the new theme, the site looks just the same.

 

Anyone that can help me with this ?

After you select the new theme are you being sure to click on save.

Also would be helpful if you said what version of Prestashop so we can direct you through the correct menus.

My version is 1.5.2, and I have uploaded the new theme into the themes folder via ftp.

 

Here is what I've done:

 

1. Open "Preferences" and "Themes"

2. Clicked [+ Add new]

3. Added name from folder name

4. clicked save

5. selected new theme

 

Didn't work, so I found the "themeinstallator", and tried "upload from computer"

After a while it just stopped, and I hoped it had installed correctly, but nothing had happened

And in the "Themes" there has appeared a new theme with the "correct name" but its not available in the admin

Did you upload to the Themes folder in the same location as default or did you upload to the default folder.

When you unzipped the theme to your computer was the theme in the root folder with files and other folder inside or was it in a secondary folder. [examples below]

What is the theme are you sure it is 1.5 compatible.

Here's the whole installation process of Prestashop theme 1.5, hope it helps

HOW TO INSTALL

[1]. unzip the file (Ex: Demo)

 

[2]. move the template file "Demo" to "yourshop/themes"

 

[3]. apply the template in the Back Office "preferences/Appearance/apply DEMOtheme"

 

[4]. replace the default prestashop modules by the ones in the zip

 

[5]. install the module blocktopmenu"

 

[NB]. - to change the editorial content :

just edit the file "yourshop/modules/editorial/editorial.tpl"

- check the "hooks.jpg" to see how to transplant the modules on the different blocks

- See also the screenshots

 

from install.txt that come with theme.

So make sure you copied blackwhite folder from themes folder in zip file to your root folder/themes

so path would be ex. ../prestashop/themes/DEMO

in this case it's necessary to export it first.

you have to export vanilla theme with theme importer (exporter) feature 

then in target prestashop import that theme with the same tool

 

at the moment there is no other way (in addition to reinstallation lol)
