Prestashop shipping is going to bankrupt me before we even launch

Recommended Posts

The First Class Mail is killing me. I can't get that to show up with a proper charge. It either doesn't show up or shows up as free. I've tried both commercial and regular rate. Screw it, I'm just going to give free shipping on everything and raise my prices. Thanks for the help

I think I got it working, can you do another test for me please? I removed individual product shipping and just let them default to the category shipping. Now.............should I tell PayPal to Use the shipping fee in the transaction instead of my calculator's settings? I think it should now be yes.

If I turn off all of Paypal's calculation I should still be able to print labels using what's passed through via the transaction right?

Thanks again.

OK, so I've uninstalled UPS and reinstalled USPS like 4 times and still can't get the shipping I need.

If you order the Mini Pet red or yellow, it ships via USPS medium flat rate box and costs only $10.85 anywhere in the continental US, you can use Santa Barbara, CA 93103 to calculate manually using commercial rates.

If you order any accessories, they all are very light and can be sent via First Class for $1.50 in a bubble wrap envelope, maximum weight for multiple accessories is like .16 LBS. Once you go over that then the accessories are sent via USPS small flat rate box and costs only $5.15 anywhere in the continental US, you can reuse Santa Barbara, CA 93103 to calculate manually using commercial rates.

Now.........if you purchase a Mini Pet AND accessories, you only pay the Mini Pet shipping price as all accessories will be shipped in that same box.

I only need 3 shipping prices:

1 Mini Pet alone or Mini Pet with accessories: $10.85 via USPS medium flat rate box

2 Small quantity of accessories: First Class Mail $1.50

3 Larger quantity of accessories: $5.15 via USPS small flat rate box

Should I just completely uninstall the USPS shipping module and let PayPal's shipping calculator do the work from the weights set in each product's shipping specs?

I've had to give out numerous refunds to overshipping and shipped out one order today for free.

I've got basically the same problem. Free Shipping! is displayed immediately after a product is added to the cart. This gives the customer the very wrong impression that shipping is free. Since I have UPS set up to calculate costs, after estimating shipping and taxes the correct shipping cost would show up. This behavior will just cause the customer to abandon the cart. I tried setting up a new zone called USA Shipping and associated states to this zone (affect new zones doesn't work either. Had to delete all zones to get it to select my new USA Shipping zone) and now the cart still shows Free Shipping! and my shipping estimates show "No carrier is available for this selection" I've spent way too much time on this. I'll continue using OpenCart.

My customers are complaining of wrong state codes and there is no Military zip codes available for some customers to use. do i need to activate something or install a module to fix these problems? I have been having this for a while now. Just got a call from a military customer who is not able to get his shipping address on my site.

Hello massiveoverkill, I'm trying my best to help you. What kind of price and weight ranges do you have set up under Shipping/price-weight ranges for each carrier?

Hey Benjamin, it's calculating the shipping costs for Priority at half of what it should be. It calculated a Mini Pet to Florida for just $6.85 when it should be $11.35 The weight of the product is 1.6lbs or 1lb 10 ounces

Cost of the Mini Pet is $50.

Hey, u hv nice website but why it is showing as prestashop in ur URL?

Also it is showing as when I visited ur site. "You cannot place a new order from your country. Undefined

http://www.massiverc.com/PrestaShop/

Please tell me there's a new patch that fixes all the shipping bugs in Prestashop. I can't get it to accurately show shipping and when it gives free shipping without rhyme or reason. I otherwise love Prestashop. Maybe I'll just give free shipping and jack all my prices up.

Thanks, it means a lot to me considering that I've never done a website before and did it in under a week. My newbness didn't think to rename the Prestashop directory, and I just accepted defaults. If there's an idiot's guide to renaming and redirecting without taking my biz down, I may try to rename it.

We're not doing international orders until we have domestic down pat. There are few US warehouses that do what we do, so we've committed to servicing North American customers. International already have decent sources and don't have to wait the same length of time for products from China as US customers do.

Hi Massive,

I am just testing multishop setup at the moment but there is an option called Physical URI where you might add "Prestashop" to get it away from the normal Url. In the old version it was called PS directory so you might want to look after something that.

I see on you site that Paypal Quick Checkout is enabled. When I press that now shipping costs are applied.

At least I would deactivate that untill you know how this really works. I would recommend that before going live you first test and understand the software untill you really find comfortable. Building a website in one week, going live without any tests. erm, yeah can do that but you can not complain about the result.

Best regards, trip

No problem, I can understand that, I did not test if this Express Checkout Shortcut which is recommended to enable during module setup is able to calculate shipping costs. At least they should mention that in the paypal module!! Otherwise this is really misleading.

Good luck with the holliday business, greetz, trip

You're telling me your modules resolve all the known issues with the free module supplied? If I'm not happy money-back guarantee?

I'm telling you that our modules work :)

You can try them out, as we have a backoffice demo page, and you can see exactly how they work.

If you have any issues with a module, we offer free support, if a module does not work as described, and we cannot resolve it, we offer a refund.

Hiya - I've got a similar problem. My shipping costs are not showing. They are quite straight forward -

Royal Mail Signed For - £4.99 UK

Royal Mail International Signed For - £9.99 - Ireland

I've set it to calculate by overall price so it' £4.99 or £9.99 regardless of how many items.

Sounds simple but the costs are not showing and on my Shopping cart page it says "no carrier needed for this service"

Can anyone help me here?

You could look into admin/catalog/products tab 'warehouse'. Are the product connected with a warehouse? This solved my problem with alway free shipping and solved the problem with 'no carrier available for this address' in checkout.

I'm using 1.5.3

Good luck
