Product Combinations creates Fatal Error: Out of Memory

First off, Prestashop is an amazing cart and thanks to everyone involved in making this available!

Now for the problem I am having, we have a shop where products have a large number of product combinations.

For example 1 product may have two color options a size and material option each with 30+ option values. When we generate the product combinations we are now getting a fatal error out of memory on the product page on the front end as well as in the attribute display section of the combinations tab in the back end.

We have tried increasing the PHP memory limit all the way up to 512, but the problem persists. It appears that Presta does not recognize the increase in available memory.

Has anyone else ran into this and is there any known work around for this issue.

Is there no one that can provide any guidance here, clearly this is a problem with Prestashop and has been reported in several threads within this forum and on other sites, yet no one responds to the posts. Is this problem acknowledged, is it being worked on, or does Prestashop simply not work with products having large number of attributes/combinations?

I am working with another developer on a solution to this ridiculous problem. We're implementing a module that will handle all the combinations much better than the built-in prestashop methods.
