Need help.. Trying to change COD to show as Pre Order Option

Trying to setup my store so people can make an order without having to pay.. kind of like a pre order deal so later I can contact them and work out a payment option after my items are available. Cash on delivery would be perfect but i dont want it to say cash on delivery.. would like it to say something like "Pre order only, when item is available we will contact you with payment options"

 

 

 

I looked in the module folder for cashondelivery and edited tpl's and php's that has the phrase that I want to replace but no change... can someone point me in the right direction where i need to be looking?

first no need to change .tpls, but if you do then turn on smarty compile.

 

the easy way to change verbage is via back office-->tools-->translations...never change any of your native ps unless you have no other way to do it...they will just come back to haunt you when you try to upgrade
