increase number of tiers queried for on category.php

on category.php i want to have not just the 1 tier for subcategories but 2 tiers down.

 

if on category.php for category id 3,

showes children categories 3a 3b and 3c..(as it does now)

 

on same page in same instance under 3a it showes 3a's children (what i want to add)

3ai 3aii and 3aiii
