I downloaded the newest auto-upgrade (0.9.1 according to addons; 0.9.3 according to itself) and installed it on my test computer with XAMPP.

 

When I click "configure" in the modules section I get the following errors:

After some trial and error (trying the repair option, removing the autoupgrade module and once again installing) I finally succeeded in getting this working. The warnings about https stayed but I was able to upgrade and it seems to be working.

I got this too with local WAMP upgrade from 1.5.2 to 1.5.3. As a new PS user I realised I had ignored a message on the main Admi panel that said I needed to have php_openssl extension installed. Installing that extension for PHP removed those warnings when autoupgrading.
