Leon Lee
Hi, I am currently trying to configure the Horizontal Top Menu for my site. I would like it to display a few categories. I am unable to see my categories I have created, only ROOT and HOME but nothing else under HOME. Using Presta 1.5. Please advise. Thanks, Leon Lee
rturner
I'm guessing you have enabled multi-shops. Then when you go to Catalog/Categories you can either Add New under whatever shop you have selected in the drop down box, or Add New Root category, which I think makes the category available to both shops. If you're not using multiple shops, I would suggest turning it off to avoid confusion. At any rate, once you create a category, you go into Modules/Top Horizontal Menu. Go to Configure. Then select whatever shop the category is for and hit the Add arrow to send it over to your menu. Make sense? If Root is showing on your menu it sounds like you must have hit Root with the Add arrow to send it to your menu. Then I'm guessing your categories are no longer listed on the left side of the Configure window. I'm also guessing that if you click on Root on your Front Office horizontal menu, that your other categories will drop down as choices from there. To make Root go away, click on Remove in the Configure area and it will slide back to the left side. Then you can add your categories to the right side and they will show - for the store that you have selected in your Back Office. To have categories show up in all shops at the same time, you have to select All Shops from the MultiStore Configuration area at the top of your Back Office. Otherwise, select each shop and add whatever categories you want for each one. Edited October 23, 2012 by rturner (see edit history)
Leon Lee
Thanks for your reply. Just confirmed that my multistore option is disabled. The top horizontal menu configure page still looks the same. Removed Home on the right side, did not change anything. Clicked on Root and Home on the left, did not drop down any categories. I have attached what my configure page currently looks like. Best Regards, Leon
rturner
If you go to Catalog / Categories you should see your categories listed. Is there a green check mark under Displayed on each category?

Leon Lee
If you go to Catalog / Categories you should see your categories listed. Is there a green check mark under Displayed on each category? Hi rturner, yes they are all ticked.
rturner
If it's me, and I've checked all the places where I normally make silly mistakes, I start thinking that there is a code error somewhere. I then go to config.inc.php and turn on "show errors" and click around to find the error. If that doesn't help, I uninstall and delete the module. Then I upload (ftp) a fresh version of the module from the latest prestashop and reinstall it. That works a lot of the time.
Leon Lee
Not sure what the problem was, but I just updated to v1.5.2 and it now works. All categories are showing. Nevertheless, thanks for your time and help rturner!
