Shared SSL

Recommended Posts

Has anybody come up with a solution for this yet? Seems a shame that such a great piece of software fails at a pretty serious hurdle!

Tried the method of placing my ssl paths into link.php and init.php, as in:

but just plain doesn't work. Seriously considering a private ssl, because it's getting a little like pulling hens teeth!

I always get negative comments when I say this.. but in a day and age when you can get a dedicated SSL cert for like $12.95 - why the heck is anyone still messing around with a shared certificate?

In almost every ecommerce package that i've ever used... shared certs always seem to have so kind of issues.

Issues they have, but my reseller package is great in all other respects, apart from private certs. They don't allow 3rd party certs and charge £170 for their own private ones!

You have to take the rough with the smooth, I guess, and in all other respects their hosting is superb.

Personally speaking, if it was my shop, I'd insist on a private ssl certificate. It shows you're prepared to take security seriously.

Problem is persuading clients to do the same! As low as I keep my prices, having to force a £170 cert in there either puts people off or makes a serious dent in my profits.
