innocuous
Hi, I have made extensive changes to some of the modules in PS 1.5.1 with default theme. Obviously made changes to default theme. PS 1.5.2 is going to be released soon. Can I run 1click upgrade? How can I ensure my changes are maintained? Thanks

DBMAN
Basically it is the development version of software. Derived from "Subversion" and versions of a software package are maintened in a repository and usually have detailed lists of changes. Generally speaking used for testers or the very brave if a package has a lot of issues. So essentially in the posting above the user got a sneak peek and the soon to be released version. So SVN versions eventually are released as increments or full versions to the public and are essentially blessed by the developers (though many times, like here there are still bugs to be worked and development to be done). In theory SVN versions go on for the life of a package.
innocuous
Upgraded to 1.5.2 today. Everything seems well. Only its a pain to redit all .tpl and css files for changes I made in earlier 1.5.1.
gravebay4x4
Hi everyone, I tried to upgrade my prestashop today from 1.5.0 to 1.5.2 but, now I can't get into the administration panel. I have the sign in page book marked and when I click it I get the message below. I'm not sure where my install folder is. Does anyone know what I've done wrong? Or if I've done it right how do I find my install folder? Please? For security reasons, you cannot connect to the Back Office until after you have: deleted the /install folder renamed the /admin folder (e.g. /admin123535) Please then access this page by the new URL (e.g. http://www.yoursite.com/admin123535)
innocuous
Connect via ftp and see folder structure... delete install folder and rename the admin folder. If you rename as /adminabc logon using url Htpp://www.yoursite.com/adminabc Hope it helps
gravebay4x4
Thank you for your response Innocuous, I appreciate you taking the time. I am far from being computer savvy when it comes to working on websites etc... I'm very green and have allot of learning to do. So, forgive my ignorance when I ask; what is ftp and how do I connect using it? Thanks, Ricardo Edited October 29, 2012 by gravebay4x4 (see edit history)
innocuous
gravebay4x4, I really suggest you get in touch with someone who is a little more tech savvy and knows a little bit of coding. Even though PS is pretty easy to install and use, it DOES require a lot of tweaking and fiddling around with apache/php/phpmyadmin/BO/ hosts, config files to get it to work just the way you want it. Right now I feel that it will be an upward task for you. I suggest you look up basic internet/hosting/websites/ftp information first. Or better just take the help of a friend who has done this kind of stuff earlier. Of course if you are willing to learn, the internet and this forum is FULL of useful information.
gravebay4x4
I love to learn, Innocuous. I don't like having to depend on others for things that I should be doing myself. I appreciate you feedback and direction very much. I will try to find the information you suggested. Thank you, Ricardo
innocuous
Great! I've learnt everything including coding myself just going through books/online and lots of passion! FTP is a file transfer protocol which helps you connect to your hosting provider to upload/download files. Lots of free FTP programs are available.
