(Solved) Featured Product images are broken, please help!

I don't know what I did, but no matter what I do I can't seem to get the images to show in the Featured Products block, all I get is a broken image icon. When I click the image it shows the enlarged image (Thickbox) perfectly (it also works perfectly with Suleman's Image Enlarger). The images display perfectly everywhere else in the shop except on the Featured Products Block.

Here's a list of things i tried.

- I deleted all of my images, re-uploaded images only for the 4 featured products, set the thumbnail generation to auto, and regenerated the thumbnails manually.
- I reloaded a fresh copy of the Prestashop default theme.
- I reinstalled the default homefeatured module.
- I tried multiple themes
- I played around with image sizes, from very small to very large to see if anything worked
- I installed (then uninstalled) the homefeatured2 module by Marghoob Suleman
- I tried banging my head against the wall

After each of these attempt I set everything back to default again.
Nothing seems to work, I still get the broken image links.

In the attached image the large version of the image is displayed in the Image Enlarger window while the Featured Products Block displays a broken link.
Any clues as to what might be wrong?

Did you check the permissions on the 'img' folder?

What's the location of the thumbnail img? (rightclick on the thumbnail -> View Image in Firefox)
What do you get if you open this manually?

Thanks for your suggestions, they at least nudged me in the right direction.
I had to create a HOME image under b.o./prefs/images and regenerate the images.
