Cart won't backtrack

Hi,

 

I've discovered an issue with our check out process.

 

When I use the back button on either the page or my browser, the cart won't go back to a previous page. Instead if goes back to the "summary" page as a default. I've tried logging out and back in, still can't get past that page to review information or make changes.

 

I had to clear the cart and start over.

 

We've had messages from would-be customers that "there is a problem" but they haven't specified what their site problems were. I suspect this one, it's pretty critical to be able to review your cart!

 

Suggestions greatly appreciated.

PS version: currently 1.4x (hoping to update this fall to 1.5x, we have several custom scripts to beware of when we do our update).
