bluem
Hi Here's the situation: we have a 1.3.2.3 store which we need to move to new hosting, at the same time as doing a bit of a redesign. I also want to upgrade to 1.4.9.0. We do not want any downtime - so the ideal situation is put a backed up copy of the existing store on the new server run the auto upgrade on new copy do the redesign on the new copy and make sure data is all correct change DNS new store becomes active But my concern is - what about new customers that use the old store while we are doing the redesign, etc, how do we import them once new store is ready? I understand that the upgrade should make adjustments to the database from 1.3 to 1.4. So, will it then work to do a 1.3 export of data from old store to re-import into 1.4 new store with its adjusted database, or will it break? Or, must I close the old store to perform an upgrade on that database too and then re-import the data to the new store in the same format? Thanks
benjamin utterback
Or, must I close the old store to perform an upgrade on that database too and then re-import the data to the new store in the same format? Thanks Hello, you can also create a copy of the old database into a test site, then upgrade that database and then import the data in the new store. This will not create any downtime.
