I got same problem when i upgraded my site to 1.5 but i kept my theme compatible with 1.4. So i compared it with complete 1.5 template. My older template was missing classes and id's which are now used in 1.5. So i suggest you to compare your files.

Thanks for your response, very much appreciated.

My URL rewriting does not work with PS1.5 (I can't turn it on without 404 errors) but it does work fine with PS1.4 versons.

I need to work out how it's changed, why it's changed and work out how to fix the problem. My host has told me, after looking at my files/db they think there is a bug in the new version and 'subsequent releases should fix that.'

I'll be changing the css files to make a more unique looking site anyway, just don't think I should have to start by fixing errors that they have put into the files in the first place....lol</h1>

I'll check this out now as I've got an hour or so free time. I'll post back if I find any fix for it.
