The mobile theme module in 1.5, doesn't seem to have any effect.

Recommended Posts

I installed the new mobile theme (version 0.3.6) into my shop (Prestashop 1.5.0.17) and as far as I can tell everything installed with no problems. However according to the iphone preview in the module's configuration, my shop still looks exactly the same as it does on big computers (if you made your browser window very small). I have the required paypal module (3.2.1).

I have no mobile device to test it for real, so maybe its working perfectly and the preview is wrong?

I am using a heavily modified version of the default theme. Would that effect it? Even if it did, I would expect to see some change...

Any advice is appreciated!

My shop is at www.stripedelephantapparel.com

I thought the module was just for 1.4 and is not compatable with 1.5?

I had all sorts of problems with the themse intefering with the PC layout in Internet Explorer, I uninstalled it and all is now well

Thanks Paul. Could I get some clarification though? I would expect it to load on a mobile device, I'm just not sure if it shows the mobile theme. Did it look like a site designed for a mobile device, or a squished desktop site? (I've changed around my homepage a bit since you looked, so if you check again it will look different)

Ron, I got an email from Prestashop telling me about cool 1.5 was and about the new mobile theme in the same breath (though they didn't explicitly say that the mobile theme works on 1.5). I followed the link (to here) and there you see it works from versions 1.4.0.1 - 1.4.9.0... and theres a big 1.5 badge next to that. Ha. So that's a little wishy washy, but it seems like it's meant to work with 1.5?

Good morning,

It is not the best mobile site I have seen but it is definitely a mobile site theme.

I have not looked at your desk top theme since you have made changes but your logo/site name does not appear.

Hope this makes sense as I'm using a mobile to reply.

Paul

Did not spot that big 1.5 badge.

Just tried downloading and re-installing: same effect

Totally trashes my view on a computer with Internet explorer 9, and on a phone / table it just looks crap. It was really lovely in 1.4.9, nut now,my front page is simply a "sitemap", and the rest just look rubbish

Uninstalled

Thanks Paul that's very good to know. Sounds like it's working at least partially, but I have deactivated the mobile theme until I can figure out more. My shop does still have the logo at the top.

Ron, hmm that's odd. Here's a screenshot of what the page looks like to me, with that badge to the right of where it says the compatibility versions.fFjpg.png

Ah I believe I have discovered the cause of this. If you look at your source code, you'll see the module inserts some code before the doctype declaration. This causes IE to load your page in quirks mode. Turn off quirks mode and I bet everything will look fine. This happens with my site too in IE, I just realized. Definitely a problem.

Seekapet, thanks. I didn't know that existed. I will give it a try.

I can confirm that yes, switching off quirks mode does solve the problem - but only on my computer. What happens on everyone elses?
