Add sub categories to multiple main categories?

Is it possible to add a sub category to multiple categories?

 

In admin I can only select one main category.

 

For instance, for a packaging site I have a main category of "Ebay Supplies" and "Paper products"

 

I have a sub category of "Wrapping Paper" which needs to be added to both of those main categories.

 

I know I can add to separate sub categories of the same name, I can also duplicate the wrapping paper subcategory and add it to another main category. This though seems the wrong way round this as i'd have two identical subcategories.

You can assign the products to many different categories in the product entry area just below the stock entry area.

When you enter the product just select all categories that this product should appear in.

What I want to do is add a sub-category to multiple parent categories.

 

so for instance if I have this set up...

 

 

Ebay Supplies

Bubblewrap

Wrapping Paper

 

Paper Products

Gift Cards

Wrapping Paper

 

Accessories

Labels

Wrapping Paper

 

 

Rather than creating 3 separate sub-categories called Wrapping Paper which will all have the same products. It wouldd make sense to just have one sub-category called 'Wrapping Paper' and assign it to 'Ebay Supplies', 'Paper Products' and 'Accessories'

Sorry but I beleive that this would only be possible by modifying code and would be far easier to create the sub category titles under the parent then when you enter the products in the main category just assign to the other sub categories with the same title.

This way at least you only entered the products once.
