Trip
Hi Hoodgrown, the article is nice for beginners and has some basic points... but it is from 2004 and I think PR was more important in the past. Ok, I want to increase PR too because for me it is a kind of reputation but it is no guarentee for good SERP's.Many of my compitors still have a PR 0 but better SERP's. I think because of higher domain ages.Besides that I want to warn people who start now building links, maybe by exchanging with ranking sites. I truly had problems by linking to one of those so called bad neighbourhoods.Although I knew all of the points in the article allready it brought me to the idea in (instead of searching for linkpartners in google) maybe better look in the prestashop community. In fact all our shops have some geenral topics - ecommerce and online shopping to name a few, it might be a good idea to search for link partners in the forum. Maybe we could start an extra topic for people who look for linkpartners where people who are interested, post their shops with a small description. Just some thoughts, regards, trip
Hoodgrown
Yeah I didn't realize it was that old and you definitely make valid points about link building with the wrong kind of sites.I do like the idea of trading links with prestashop users (though I would be picky about site quality). Another thing I was reading was about presenting the customer offers from other sites once a sale is completed.for example:1. customer makes a purchase on my site2. after the purchase they're routed to a page that says "other offers you might be interested in"3. they're presented with other offers from other sites like "get a 10% discount on all purchase at www.somestore.com"I think this kind of promotion could be worth it's weight in gold..
