10 Questions regading Presta: invoicing, canceling, sales reports, ebay, experiances, etc.

Recommended Posts

Hiya

Thanks for taking a look at my thread!

I've installed Presta on my local host and have been searching through the forums.

I've very impressed with the cart so far and the community, however I have some questions that I haven't been able to find the answers too. If you know the answers to any of them and have a spare moment to reply, I'd greatly appreciate it.

1. Is there a way to view and print off Sales reports?

2. I have a specific invoice template I need to use, is there a way I can make it so Presta use my invoice template?

3. Is there a way to mark orders, ie. Shipped, not shipped, paid, not paid?

4. How easy is it to cancel orders?

5. How easy is it to manage inventory? I also sell on e-bay and amazon, are there any modules to connect my listings there to my Presta shop. What would be the best way to ensure inventory remains correct, when selling through the presta site and ebay/amazon?

6. Do you find your Presta shop to be search engine friendly?

7. Does your Presta shop work well with google base?

8. Does anything special need to be done when shipping internationally, or does the shop calculate shipping costs automatically based on weigh?

9. Are there any modules, not included, that are a must have?

10. What has been your over all experience using Presta shop? What are the pros? Is there anything I should be weary of?

Thank you for your time and answers.

Hi ya,

I can answer a couple

1. There is a stats page. They are ok but depending on what content you want in the sales reports they might not cut it

2. PASS - Out of my league that one

3. You can create as many order statuses as you like from the back office.

4. Cancelling orders there is a thread on here if you want to remove it completely but if you are happy to have canellations still showing you can do that with a default order status. It will even return the stocki for you.

5. There are no modules as of yet that can do this but I did ask for one a while back. The software is still in its infancy so fingers crossed. Probably one day. A freelance coder could probably do it but it will cost you.

6. Presta is fairly SE Friendly. I have had some minor issues but nothing that cannot be resolved in time.

7. PASS - Never tried.

8. You set up all of your shipping costs in the backend. I belive there is a module on here aswell that has and API with royal mail. Use the search function on this forum and im sure you will find it.

9. I like quite a few of the modules. Just play about with it and see what you like and dont like. I recommend the Homepage product slider. Very nice!

10. My experience is second to none. Very happy with it after trying many many carts. As I said earlier it is in its infancy but it has the potential to be the best one out there. A doddle to use and to get working.

Hope this helps.

1. No
2. Not that I know of
3. Yes its all done in the orders tab of admin
4 Fairly easy just change the order status to cancelled although this doesnt refund any money to your customer, but it does send them an email telling them the order has been cancelled. I have had a bit of success with doing this, with people who havent paid for some reason even though an order was generated, when they received the email they came back and ordered again, and paid.
5. Very easy I havent had any problems managing inventory. Currently there is no ebay module that I have seen.
6. So far Presta has been excellant as far as SEO has gone, I am on the first page of google for many generic keywords aswell as specific targetted ones.
7. I use googlebase, the script is at http://www.ecartservice.net/03082008/exporting-products-to-googlebase/
8. You can set the shipping to do many things in prestashop, after you get your head around it. There are modules for UPS and one for USPS that is in development. Automatic weight calculations are possible aslong as you enter weights for all your products.
9. Theres tons of modules around now, www.freeprestashopmodules.com has many of them listed aswell as some hints and tips.
10. I have been using Prestashop since last September in a live shop and now have 2 live shops, so as you might be able to tell I do like the cart. One click module and theme installation is a breeze to use, and you dont really need to know much coding.
