cannot add an image to short description

Hi folks!

I'm trying to add icons to the short description of my products in Prestashop 1.4.9.0. The image appears in the short description frame of the long description window, but not in the short description frame of the category list. Probably related to this: a 'carriage return' has no effect in the short description frame of the category list (all text is displayed on one line).
