Joe Germann
I would like to have some products available via a URL but not have them show up under their category heading. The reason is to be able to only make a product available for viewing by select customers. Thanks, Joe
tomerg3
Create a new customer group, and assign the category to the new customer group. They will be the only ones that could access the products (which is much better approach, as otherwise search engines will index those products, and any customer would still be able to see them). Joe Germann
Create a new customer group, and assign the category to the new customer group. They will be the only ones that could access the products (which is much better approach, as otherwise search engines will index those products, and any customer would still be able to see them). I understand what you are saying. Here is some additional detail We sell some one-off products, that is we only have one available. 1) I want to make these products PRIVATE to a select group before I make them PUBLIC. What you say above makes sense. I can then set up a new group PRIVATE and an associated PRIVATE_PRODUCT category. 2) After a day in PRIVATE I will add in the PUBLIC category so everyone can see them. 3) Once a product is SOLD, either from the PRIVATE or PUBLIC category I would like to make that product listing available only to the person we sold it to. I could move the product into the SOLD_PRODUCT category but I would only want the actual person who bought it to have access, not everyone who bought a product that was originally in the PRIVATE or PUBLIC groups. I fully understand how to do 1) and 2) but am confused how to do 3). I was thinking I could just supply the URL of the SOLD item to the purchaser and give them access to the SOLD_CATEGORY. While everything would be in there, it generally would not be blatantly visible to everyone in the SOLD group. Any further suggestions about 3) above? Thanks for your help. tomerg3
Sounds like you need a custom module or modification, as those are quite specific needs, and I am not aware of any module out there that does that.
