LuisEmanuel
Hi! I've been struggling with this problem for somedays now... My shop is down and I don't know what to do anymore: I had a problem intalling a module and I got this error 500. I tried many options but I wasn't able to work it out... So I thought I could reinstall everything. I backed up the files from ftp and the database from phpmyadmin. Then, I downloaded the 1.5.0.17 (the same version I had previously), I replaced the files with filezilla and I tried to install the prestashop again. When I accessed www.sextalinha.com/install I had a problem because the database already existed. Then I thought I could try to simply "upgrade" so that I could use the database as it is. I typed: www.sextalinha.com/install/upgrade/upgrade.php and I got this error: This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below. <action result="fail" error="28"/> Can somebody help me? Thank you in advance, Luis Silva Edited September 27, 2012 by LuisEmanuel (see edit history)
rseigel
If you have full backups of files and database there in no need to install or update. Just go to your site like you did before when it was working after uploading files and restoring database. rseigel
Remove the module manually. Then CHMOD all folders 755 (or 775 depending on your host) and all file 644 (or 664 - again depending on your host).

rseigel
I had a problem intalling a module and I got this error 500. I thought you already knew the guilty module.
LuisEmanuel
Yes... I was a little foolish... I was cheking what I could do with that... I think it was a stats module... but I don't remember the name... I'll have to try...
LuisEmanuel
Well... Now I really don't know what to do... I tried to delete some modules... It wasn't working either... So I tried a solution I read somewhere: Delete all and then add them back but one at each time... but I've deleted them all now and it is still not working... I can't login to BO, I can't open FO... What can I do more? Is there a way of reinstalling? or something... I don't know...

benjamin utterback
Dear Luis, Hello and thank you for the message. As stickees said, you should try to do a new fresh install and see if that works out for you. You can then try to import your database to see if it still works. LuisEmanuel
Thank you all... I'm still having the same problem... It's being hard to install and import database... Is there a away of changing the database in use in Prestashop? And is there a way to install prestashop with an existing database?
benjamin utterback
Hello Luis, During installation PrestaShop asks you which database you wish to connect to. You can change the name there. You can also always change the Database name in your settings.inc.php file.
LuisEmanuel
Ok! Thank you! That's what I'm going to try now.
LuisEmanuel
I've done a fresh install on my server and with a new database. http://www.sextalinha.com As you can see, everything seems to be going on well... I will try to change database name on settings.inc.php file. This should work...
benjamin utterback
Yes, however, if there are errors in your database, it may not work.

benjamin utterback
Hello, if you have not already, back up your last known working database.
LuisEmanuel
Thank you very much!!! This is the first time in one week that I see any evolution on the problem! It already works! However, as it is a new install I don't have the products images and I can only use this new PS theme... About the theme I don't know but it's not critical. About the product images, is there a way of importing them all at once? After this problem I'll be backing up everything again... Thank you very much Benjamin Utterback
