benjamin utterback
Hello jesen, thank you for the message. Are you modifying the default language from the Employee Preferences? In your backoffice, it can be found by your Name, called "My Preferences"

benjamin utterback
Hello Jesen, no problem. Please first change your Employee Preferences, and then once that language is changed, you can change the default shop language.

dswebstudio
i don't think so, Log in as admin Go to in menu “Localization” Go to “Configuration” Change “Default language” Save this is right! thanks! this works perfectly for me! (Prestashop 1.5.6) Menu "Localization" Item "Localization" "Configuration" box change "Default Language" This changes the front default language. *correction* My case: Default language: French Additional language: English I wanted to set default language of the shop to English. The above worked on local. I put the site online and I couldn't make it. I did the above THEN Menu "Localization" Item "Languages" I turned the French status to Enabled -> no Edited January 8, 2014 by dswebstudio (see edit history)

That is correct, that is how you change the default language of the front office. If you want to add languages/currencies etc... You can go to Localization/Add or Update Language/ and then select the language or country that you want to add.
