David Henry
We would like to update to P1.5 however our template is smarty 2, so will not be supported. What are the options other than completely replacing the template? D
shacker
you need to rewrite your theme with smarty 3. Need to check file by file, or adapt your css using the default template
David Henry
thanks Shaker. Would you have any idea how long something like that would take? Is there any documentation on what is involved?
shacker
maybe can do in a day. You can check the official documentation of PS 1.5, and check what changes http://doc.prestashop.com/display/PS15/Home
David Henry
Cheers Shacker. For anyone else testing this, when you switch from Smarty 2 to Smarty 3 remember to clear all caches to test. David
benjamin utterback
Hello David, thanks for the message. It is important to clear the cache. You can turn Force Compile to "On" in the Back Office, and then clear the cache via FTP in root (cache/smarty/cache + compile) . Make sure you back up your files! Thank you for choosing PrestaShop! There is a difference to clear the cache in 1.4 and 1.5 1.5 root (cache/smarty/cache + compile). 1.4. root>tools>smarty>compile>cache

betyonfire
David, Did you have any luck with this method or find any more help? I know nothing about Smarty, but need to do this same thing. Did you end up coping files from the 1.5 default theme over to your theme? Thanks
shacker
My methos is replace all tpl files (in my themes only the header have a little customizations) for the default theme add the css code from my theme to the new prestashop global.css, and replace the images , later you need to check all site and adapt the code in the sections that you need
