phrasespot
1.5 SVN does not have most of the modules in default package and additional requests to PrestaShop required are to retrieve those modules. How can one without PHP allow_url_fopen disabled can get these modules installed, or follow their bug fixes etc. Is PrestaShop open source or not? If so allow access to that additional module repository and publish the URL somewhere. Dh42
This has been bothering me for a while, but I would like to expound on what Phrasepot is saying. The paypal module was screwed up, in version 3.09, 3.10,3.11. Other modules are screwed up when they get updated. But there really isn't a way to download the older versions. I really doubt that Prestashops base users know how to connect to the svn and download a single module instead of trying to figure out which version of ps has a working module. We need a http svn for modules. The modules need their own repository separate from the addon store. It is impossible if I want to download an old version of a module. Call me old-fashioned, but Im not agreeing to a legal document in French.
Dh42
I have actually gone back and looked at your post several times on that to see if it was finally answered. Of course it wasn't.
benjamin utterback
Hello all. Thank you for the message. Sorry, I had not seen this on the 17th. I will certainly highlight this suggestion as best I can in my Reports, and let you know of any feedback I receive. Thank you all for helping the PrestaShop Community the way that you do. I, and the rest of PrestaShop, definitely appreciate it. We are really doing our best everyday to continue PrestaShop's mission to be the very best e-commerce solution. Dh42
One thing that was touched on before during a separate issue was liability. As far as things are concerned Prestashop is in breach of the OSL. http://opensource.org/docs/osd 2. Source Code The program must include source code, and must allow distribution in source code as well as compiled form. Where some form of a product is not distributed with source code, there must be a well-publicized means of obtaining the source code for no more than a reasonable reproduction cost preferably, downloading via the Internet without charge. The source code must be the preferred form in which a programmer would modify the program. Deliberately obfuscated source code is not allowed. Intermediate forms such as the output of a preprocessor or translator are not allowed. There is no well publicized means. 5. No Discrimination Against Persons or Groups The license must not discriminate against any person or group of persons. You are discriminating against the general user. I imagine that a certified shop can get source code easier than I can. I do know that they have special releases. This is simple stuff, come on. I am sure everyone will agree that making the repository available will have the benefit of having the additional eyes on the ongoing developement of those modules. Some people read SVN commits for light, bed time reading:)
phrasespot
I will certainly highlight this suggestion as best I can in my Reports, and let you know of any feedback I receive. Benjamin It has now been a month since your last reply. Do you think this was sufficient time to clear this issue? Should someone correct the Wikipedia entry for PrestaShop to highlight the inconsistency between PrestaShop license and its distribution?
Dh42
Phrasepot, I mean seriously, you cannot expect them to act that quickly. Supercharlie has been waiting since May to get the terms of service translated from French to English on the addons site, I feel like they could be moving at the rate of one word a day.
