Category Tools Not Appearing

Gosh, I feel like a soft-minded newbie -- but I can't seem to get many of the tools to load

In the tutorials, such as: http://www.prestashop.com/wiki/Categories/ The screen we should see in the Back Office is something like: a line with the Catalog, Customers, Etc tabs, then a line of Manufacturers, Supplier, etc -- but everything *beneath* that (the Back Office >> Catalog, the Current Category, etc) aren't appearing on my dashboard. Any of the Quick Links I click feature the same problem -- there's nothing to click to customize... so I can't add any products, categories, etc.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Did you find any solution? I am having the same problem. I have a Win7 and using Firefox 4 and IE9 I am experiencing the same problem. But my colleague with WXP and IE8 can see the back office screen with no problems.
