JerseyG
I host my own site on a windows 2008 server, and use Geolocations. At the moment internal computers receive the message “You cannot place a new order from your country. Undefined”. I realises that this is due to the internal IP range of the network not being recognised by the Geolocations table. I have selected “Visitors can see your catalog but cannot make an order” for both restricted and undefined countries. If I chose “All features are available” for undefined” internally I can see prices etc. But I am receiving orders from Romania. Which I do not want. If I place the IP address in the Allowed IP address area I am still unable to view my shop correctly. At the moment I use a laptop on an external wireless connection to view my shop but I was wondering if anyone else hosts his own site and have they found a way around this problem. Thanks in advance G Edited September 9, 2012 by JerseyG (see edit history)
El Patron
"But I am receiving orders from Romania. Which I do not want." are you certain the orders are coming from a Romanian IP? have you put a fresh copy of tools/geoip/GeoLiteCity.dat? This is updated once a month... also you can restrict countries to whom only have shipping carriers defined (i.e. not allow country selection in address) back office-->shipping-->countries (scroll to the bottom) http://screencast.com/t/6n3bNPXxVM Edited September 9, 2012 by elpatron (see edit history)
JerseyG
Thanks for your prompt reply on this. I checked the IP used to place the order with whois.domaintools.com so I am fairly confident on the source. I am using July's download so I will ensure I update monthly. The shipping for me is Europe so Romania falls into this bracket even though it is outside my catchment area. Again thanks for your assistance
El Patron
you are very welcome...and keep in mind you need to run the IP, even if it says Romania through the GeoLite data...as it may not agree with a whois or other online lookup... something that you may be interested in, and now that I think of it, our latest module (release this week) ets you simulate IP's, amongst price by country(IP) to test your geo pricing definitions. It would be nice to just have a module that simulates IP for testing of the ps geolocaton. but I'm full of ideas (more work) today
