PS 1.4.9 Add to Cart -Category List (with quantity)

I'm trying to set up prestashop (1.4.9) to be able to add items to cart from the category product list.

I feel we don't need the product description page, so we are trying to eliminate said links as well. Just list items in a category, and have the short description, a quantity box and an Add to Cart button. Tried following a [solved] issue found here in the forums, but it seems the post is too old (2010) and haven't been able to make it work. I even tried playing with the code a little, but had no luck.

 

Any ideas on how to edit product-list.tpl for this?

so it seems the problem lies with the JS file that defines the quantity to be added to cart. Ill try playing with that, any help would be much appreciated
