Does Prestashop make it's own images? (CSV product import)

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

Who can answer me this?

  1. My website is on Server A.
  2. I have an image on Server B (can be a free image uploading service)
  3. I copy the image's URL and paste it into the image column in the Product CSV Import.
  4. I then import the CSV in the backend. All will work fine.

Can I now delete the image from server B, where it was originally located? Has Prestashop uploaded or copied the image to my web host space?

Or will my product description on my website have a broken img link when the original img has been deleted?

Thanks!

Hi,

Yes, Prestashop creates its own images for products, categories, suppliers, manufacturers... Every image you upload with a csv or with your back office.

You can find them in the "img" folder of your site.

So, you can delete images on your server B once your product pages have been created.

Paul.

am I reading this correctly? In previous versions in order to upload images via CSV the image file had to be in the image folder already on your domain

Are you saying here that yo have managed to upload images from anywhere on the internet?

Hi did you find out if this works? I'm having trouble importing images from my csv. It imports all the data but then throws back error regarding uploading the image URL.

Thanks

Yes it works. I have uploaded a csv file to www.u-bolts-r-us.co.uk that contained links to our images on www.graphskill.co.uk/preshatop and the images were copied across perfectly
