yiolanda313
hi, before 2 days I wanted to download prestashop. I typed my information but when I clicked to download (several times) nothing happened. Then I read in a thread to leave everything blank and click on download. It worked. I purchased a domain, a web hosting pack and I managed to install it till the point I had to rename the admin folder (was getting 500 internal error when trying to enter back office). After I mailed to my provider and prestashop customer service for help I got no answer withing 24 hours.. really furstrating and I got no online solution to make me understand what to do step by step (I'm quite a newbie to all this) That drove me crazy to tell the truth. At the end I renamed the admin folder from my pc directory and moved it again to server with filezilla. It seems that worked because is asking me my email and password to enter back office. Now I can't login with the email I registered in prestashop probably because I haven't registered at the first place (before I download prestashop) but download button was bugged anyway so I did not have that option at all. what should I do?? benjamin utterback
Hello yiolanda, Welcome to the PrestaShop forums! We are so happy to have you. A few housecleaning tips first. Please read the rules and regulations for the Forum. Please do not post Titles in all Capital Letters or include titles like HELP or URGENT. Also, please post in the correct discussion. In this case it would be in, "Installing PrestaShop" That way you will find better assistance. I will go ahead and change your title and move the thread. Now to your issue. The E-mail and Password to log into your BackOffice is not the same as the registration for PrestaShop.com. You actually do not need to register for PrestaShop.com in order to log in to your back office. When installing PrestaShop, you were directed to create a username (E-mail) and password? Did you do that? Maybe a good tool would be the installation guide? Here it is http://doc.prestashop.com/display/PS14/Getting+Started#GettingStarted-InstallingPrestaShop I hope this is a good first step. Thank you so much for choosing PrestaShop! Sincerely, Benjamin
yiolanda313
I'm very sorry for the caps. I haven't read the forum rules and generally im not so experienced with forums. I mention above that after I filled the registration form, I clicked the button but nothing happened. I tried this on different browsers and several times. Then I searched through the internet and some people that got the same issue, suggested to leave everything blank and try again to download prestashop. I did leave everything blank and that worked (I assumed there was a bug or something) I don't remember myself registering later (for the forum I did) how can I check that? is there something I can do or I have to start the whole process from the begining? yiolanda313
even now that I try, the download works only if I leave everything blank
benjamin utterback
Hello yiolanda, The registration is for PrestaShop.com is not necessary to install PrestaShop on your website and set up your own administrator log in credentials. Have you follow the installation guide from PrestaShop?
yiolanda313
I found the mail and password I registered on step 4 of prestashop installation but still doesn't work. maybe because I replaced the admin folder? (the renaming issue I mention above)
yiolanda313
Guide says : "To finalize the installation, use your FTP program to delete the “install” folder. In addition, you should rename the “admin” folder. It is imperative that you block your store’s control panel from any intruders. In order to protect your store, right-click on the “admin” folder and select “Rename.” Choose a new name. However, having the name “admin” allows access to your Back Office, since this is the original address given to the Back Office. Therefore keep the word admin in your new folder name." I did the same thing but after I try to log in I get: server error - The website encountered an error while retrieving http://www.donkeyshop.eu.com/admingaidouri/. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly. HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error) im using google chrome. tried also on explorer and firefox I think thats the root of my problems at the 1st place Edited August 22, 2012 by yiolanda313 (see edit history)
razaro
Bit stange but try http://www.donkeyshop.eu.com/admingaidouri/login.php I see log in form there. But if you have more issues maybe some files are not uploaded correctly and then you should try to re-install. yiolanda313
I still can't log in.. I guess I will try to reinstall but how I will understand that some files are not uploading correctly? thanks for the link, I already used it for the installation.. maybe something with the server hoster? I use gandi.net for hosting their "simple hosting" pack (php/sql)
yiolanda313
how to reinstall? thank you very much for your help
razaro
Well safest is to delete all files from server and database also and start again.
yiolanda313
I did everything from scratch with no problem. Took me 10' to install it (exactly as the guide says) but it happened again: when I tried to log into back office for 1st time it doesn't accept the registered password! Gives me again server error message at least I know now that it is not something I do wrong with installation also I only can enter back office on www.donkeyshop.eu.com/admingaidouri/login.php (without the /login.php it doesn't work)
benjamin utterback
Hello yiolanda, how did you delete PrestaShop through FTP? You can also delete all the tables found within your Database pertaining to PrestaShop. Also, if you have an htaccess file, you can try and delete it. benjamin utterback
Hello, what do you mean delete the rest? Delete everything via FTP and the database. Then Reinstall PrestaShop. Then try and delete the HTaccess if it is already created.
