How can i force the product page to be list as default

Hi,

 

I have made quite a few changes to my template and the tpl files so i can have a lot more text and html on the product short descriptions. I also removed the mouse over to show this on the grid view but i would like to remove the grid view completely so you only have the list view. Not much is showing up on the search and i am not 100% sure the best way to do it I hope someone can help.
