Problems importing Sub-categories with same names

We have a major problem at the moment as we sell car parts and in each category we need to have a list of manufacturers. The problem is importing the CSV it doesn't like the apparant duplicates.
I have made sure each on is assigned to a different parent category and even put in the ID numbers manually, but it still doesn't work.
Does anyone know the solution to this otherwise we will have to abandon using this cart which we really do not want to do as otherwise it looks and works very well!

You can use this trick to be able to create many categories and sub-categories with the same "displayed" name:

In the database, the names will be different thanks to the "xx." prefix, but because this prefix is not displayed, the category names will seem to be the same.
