Can not update .tpl files

I have set

Force compile: Yes

and

Cache: No

but nothing is working. I want to change some script in the header.tpl file.

 

I have tryed to clear the cache and delete everything in tools/smarty/compile but when i do this my website design messes up and i have to restore my site.

 

I have tryed everything and everything.

Before you do any more changes...,

This means there is a problem with one of the previous changes you made. Currently an old, compiled version is being used and if a new version is to be compiled it will not work, so there is already a problem somewhere.

Only you know the changes you made. Short of copying files from install package, only thing you can do is to step back until you can run the shop without a problem when you empty the compile directory. That will possibly show you what was wrong as well. Then the change you want to make will probably work.
